GSTT productions that made the selection for the National Theatre Festival
The titles of two productions by the German State Theatre in Timişoara (GSTT) can be found in the official selection of the 19th edition of the National Theatre Festival, which is scheduled to take place in the beginning of November. Sole selection jury member of the festival is theatre critic Cristina Modreanu, who made the list public during a press conference held on Thursday, June 18th 2009, at the headquarters of the Romanian Association of Theatre Artists (UNITER).

The two GSTT productions selected for the festival are The Bald Soprano, by Eugène Ionesco, directed by Alexandru Dabija, and Pool. No water, by Mark Ravenhill (national premiere), directed by Alexandru Mihăiescu. Both performances are productions of the German Theatre from the 2008/2009 season.

Others selections for the festival included plays produced by theatres such as the National Theatre, Bulandra and Odeon Theatres, the Comedy Theatre, the Small Theatre in Bucharest, the national theatres in Timişoara, Iaşi, Cluj, Tg. Mureş and Sibiu, the Hungarian State Theatre in Cluj, the theatres in Ploieşti, Brăila, Sf. Gheorghe, etc.

The National Theatre Festival, considered to be the most representative event of its kind on a national scale, takes place every year in Bucharest since 1991, being organised by the Romanian Association of Theatre Artists (UNITER) with funding from the Ministry of Culture and Cults and from Bucharest City Hall.
